FRESH from a successful hit-and-run mission south of the border, Im Presi Belle will head to Club Menangle this weekend in a bid to extend her unbeaten season.
Taken to Victoria a fortnight ago, Im Presi Belle stretched her perfect term to six with an impressive win in Melton.
This time around the Peter Rixon-trained daughter of Mach Three will contest the opening event at Australia’s premier venue on Saturday night.
In what shapes as a “winnable race”, Im Presi Belle will compete against a solid field of mares over 1609 metres.
To be driven by Rixon’s daughter, Hannah, Im Presi Belle will begin from barrier nine.
“I was rapt with her run in Melton,” Rixon said. “When they went passed the winning post at the bell she was last and there was a big gap between her and the leader, so I wasn’t confident.
“The way the race was run, with a 27-second quarter in the middle, helped her, but she finished it off brilliantly.
“She gets back in grade a little bit at Menangle with Hannah driving her and certainly has a chance again.
“It would be nice to see her keeping the winning streak going, but it’s a hard thing to do as she keeps going up in grade.”
Although he has no firm plans set for the five-year-old, Rixon stated he may need to rethink Im Presi Belle’s schedule.
“I don’t know what is for her beyond this week as she is getting hard to place,” Rixon said. “If she keeps going the way she is I might even look at Queensland.
“At this stage I am reluctant to put her in a free-for-all at Menangle against the boys.”
