Loyalty on display in mares’ feature
TWO acts of loyalty will be on display during Saturday night’s Sibelia Stake.
With four runners engaged in the Club Menangle-based feature, trainer Jack Trainor would obviously have the choice of drives.
As far as Trainor is concerned, however, there was no real choice to be made.
Although beaten by her stablemate a fortnight ago, Trainor will stick with Stylish Memphis as she works towards her Queen Elizabeth II Mile title defence.
The daughter of Bettors Delight is aiming for an unprecedented hat-trick in the Group One, having also captured the 2021 edition.
That leaves Cameron Hart to take the reins behind Braeview Kelly, which not only beat Stylish Memphis, but has drawn to repeat the dose from barrier two.
TAB Fixed Odds have Braeview Kelly listed as the $2.30 favourite, with Stylish Memphis, which will come from gate seven, at $2.50.
“It doesn’t matter where any of them draw, I’ll be staying with Stylish Memphis all the way through, including the Queen Elizabeth II Mile,” Trainor said.
“Cam has the drive behind Braeview Kelly, even if I’m sitting in the grandstand watching.”
Trainor will also be represented by B K Swy from barrier five and Captn Me in gate nine.
Captn Me was a handy fourth last weekend when first-up since her success in the Group One Breeders’ Challenge Final for three-year-old fillies on October 29.
“They are both very handy fillies,” Trainor said. “With the right run they are capable of causing an upset.”
