PROMISING pacer Jawsoflincoln issued an ominous statement during the weekend.
A star among his crop last season, Jawsoflincoln made his open class debut in sensational fashion.
Jawsoflincoln’s super summer as a three-year-old saw him capture the SAHRC, Gawler and South Australia Derbys as well as the Sires’ Produce by a whopping 43 metres!
Sent for a well-earned spell in early December, the Greg Scholefield-trained entire made his return at Globe Derby yesterday and impressed all onlookers with his performance.
Driven by Gaita Pullicino, the son of Art Major overcame the outside of the second row to complete a six-and-a-half metre win from Premonition.
Maharajah was 10 metres away third.
Rating 1:54.8 over 1800 metres, Jawsoflincoln took his record to 13 wins and six placings from 29 starts for earnings of $95,358.
“That was a top run from him,” Scholefield said. “I’ve had him ready to go for a couple of weeks, but he was still in need of the run.
“That will do him the world of good and he should be better again next time around.”
Next time is potentially Saturday night’s Italian Cup at Globe Derby, with Scholefield considering using the feature to lift Jawsoflincoln’s fitness ahead of the upcoming country cup circuit.
“I’m thinking about the Italian Cup, but haven’t made up my mind,” Scholefield said. “I will be focusing on the country cups, so another run before they start would do his fitness a great service.”
