Ominous warning ahead of next week’s Final
AN OMINOUS warning has been issued to prospective rivals ahead of next week’s TAB State Final at Club Menangle.
Speaking after Extreme Sea’s dominating victory in the Metropolitan Championship around the world class venue just moments ago, trainer David Hewitt declared the gelding hasn’t been fully tested yet.
Driven by Brad Hewitt, Extreme Sea overcame a second row draw to complete an arrogant 26-metre win from Foxy Dada, with My Ultimate Snowy a metre-and-a-half away third.
Rating 1:52.8 over 2300 metres, the son of Well Said took his record to an imposing record of six wins and two thirds from nine starts for earnings of $148,343.
“We are really pleased with him,” Hewitt said. “He is getting better with every start and did it very easily tonight.
“I wasn’t too concerned about the draw as it gave him time to settle and do his own thing before working into it and once he got to the lead, I didn’t think they would catch him.
“Everything he has done so far is on raw ability…we haven’t pushed him yet to get to the bottom of him!”
Following next week’s assignment Extreme Sea will be given a short freshen-up before heading to Queensland for $355,000 The Rising Sun at Albion Park on July 13.
The four-year-old will then return home to be primed for The Eureka at Club Menangle on September 7.
Extreme Sea has been booked to occupy the slot owned by Wayne Loader in the $2.1million event.
“For now, I will just concentrate on the Statewide Final next week,” Hewitt said. “Then all going well, I might head to Queensland in July mainly for The Rising Sun.
“After that, everything he does will be about having him at his top for The Eureka in September.”
