Owners leap into another charitable act
IN ANOTHER boost to Friday night’s Newcastle Mile meeting, Leap To Fame’s owners Kevin and Kay Seymour are contributing to an online silent auction set up by Newcastle Harness Racing Club offering enthusiasts an opportunity to purchase a piece of history in the making.
The Seymours are generously donating three limited edition collector items, with all proceeds raised going to Newcastle Harness Racing Club’s charity partner, the John Hunter Children’s Hospital Kids Club.
The framed memorabilia will include a set of Leap To Fame racing colours, winning shoes and photographs signed by trainer-driver Grant Dixon of his wins in the 2023 Inter Dominion and 2024 Hunter Cup.
Leap To Fame has won nine races in-a-row and is set to continue his winning streak in the $100,000 AVE Technologies Newcastle Mile where he’s chasing the win and automatic qualification into the $1million Miracle Mile at Club Menangle on March 9.
If successful at Newcastle, a further signed photograph of this win will be included in the framed memorabilia.
This latest announcement follows the news that should Leap To Fame wins this Friday night’s feature, the Seymours will gift five per cent of winning stakes to one lucky Newcastle Mile patron plus match the donation with a further five per cent pledge to the John Hunter Children’s Hospital Kids Club (JHCHKC).
Newcastle Harness Racing Club has supported the ‘Kids Club’ for over 25 years and is very proud that the weekly raffles conducted at race meetings have been acknowledged by JHCHKC President Jan Waugh as one of the largest overall contribution sources to their fundraising which has raised more than $2.8 million over the last 31 years helping sick children in the Hunter Region.
”The harness community are always so generous at our weekly raffles and we’re so grateful for the added opportunities presented by the the Club particularly over the last six years at the Newcastle Mile which enable us to ramp up funds raised,” Waugh said.
“These latest two gestures by the Seymours are just the icing on the cake, we couldn’t be more thankful.”
