THANKS to a perfect draw, speedy pacer Mach Dan should have little difficulty earning his third Miracle Mile appearance.

Competing in the past two editions of Australasia’s ultimate speed test, Mach Dan made his way into the elite field by securing the 2022 and ’23 Newcastle Miles.

This time around the Emma Stewart-trained gelding will seek a spot in the $1million Garrards-sponsored major by contesting tomorrow night’s Allied Express Sprint around Club Menangle.

Ironically, Leap To Fame is the only confirmed runner in next weekend’s Miracle Mile thanks to his Newcastle Mile triumph last Friday night.

Racing closer to home on the same evening as Leap To Fame, Mach Dan rounded out his preparation by capturing the Geelong Rocket with Mark Pitt in the cart.

Pitt will partner Mach Dan again, with the son of Mach Three to begin from the pole.

Despite his impressive resume, TAB Fixed Odds have Mach Dan on the fourth line of betting at $8.50, with Hi Manameisjeff the $2.20 favourite from barrier 10.

“He’s got proven gate speed and we plan on making the most of it from the draw,” Stewart said. “It is a lot stronger field this week, but he is heading up in the right form.

“Hopefully he can get the job done and make his way into the big one next week.”
