August 7, 2023 Paul Courts

PROMISING sire Bettor’s Wish made the perfect start to his stallion career by siring the winners of both $240,000 New Jersey Sires’ Stake Finals at the Meadowlands on Friday night.
Better Is Nice continued his outstanding form with a 1:50.8 win in the Colts’ and Geldings’ Final. (Watch Replay)
Better Is Nice moved to the front and didn’t look back, sprinting home in 26.6 seconds to win by two-and-a-half lengths.
After the race his trainer Tony Alagna said “He’s a real versatile horse as you saw tonight. He’s much better tracking horses down, he gets a little lost on the front, but he can do it either way and we’re excited to get this win and take him on down to Kentucky.”
In the Fillies’ Final, Pulp Fiction dominated her rivals, winning by four lengths. (Watch Replay)
Coming off two wins to start her career, Pulp Fiction went to the front from a wide barrier and won as she liked.
The Michael Hall-trained pacer is now undefeated in three starts for earnings of $150,000.
From just 39 foals, Bettor’s Wish’s starters have earned $498,000, making him the leading first season sire in the US.
Even more impressive is his two-year-old average earnings of $12,769 per foal is the highest of any stallion in North America.
