Phenomenal winning streak continues
A RETURN to his favourite track saw Cash N Flow stretch his phenomenal Club Menangle streak last night.
Given a freshen-up following his unplaced effort in the Victoria Cup at Tabcorp Park Melton on October 5, Cash N Flow proved too good for his opposition over the flying mile.
Stopping the clock in 1:51.5, the Craig Cross-trained speedster has won his last 13 starts around the world class circuit.
Cash N Flow’s winning sequence began on March 14 with a 1:49.8 performance!
“He loved being back at his favourite track over his favourite distance,” Cross said. “He had no luck in the Victoria Cup after being caught wide and in the breeze early, which is not his go.
“Being at Menangle over the shorter trip suits him and he just thrives on the tempo.
“The time off has done him the world of good and he will be better again next time around.”
With Luke McCarthy in the cart, Cash N Flow worked forward to find the lead from barrier 10 as early front runner, Replaced Eye, was eased to take a trail.
Forced to dig deep during the latter stages, the son of Mach Three staved off a late charge from The Black Prince to score by a head.
Maraetai was three-and-a-half metres away third.
“He got tired close to the line, but he got there, which is what counts,” Cross said. “The run will tighten him up nicely,”
Cash N Flow’s victory was part of an octet across two states for Cross.
Along with local winners Vandanta, Air Time and Expensive Ego, Cross prepared Balrah, Cruz, No Win No Feed and Mister Donald to score at Albion Park.
