Promising youngster remains undefeated

PROMISING youngster Tri Time continued the perfect start to his career in Bathurst last night.

Making a successful debut at the provincial circuit on August 12, Tri Time returned to capture a Breeders’ Challenge heat for trainer David Hewitt.

Pleased with the two-year-old’s performances, Hewitt warned Tri Time will continue to improve as he gains experience.

“You can’t expect any more from him than to win both his starts,” Hewitt said. “He has come a long way and I’ve got no doubt he will improve on that run.

“It was a bit of an ask for him last night given he was first-up for six weeks, but he did very well.

“We had a few issues after his first start and started running out of time, so I didn’t get to trial him, but on his track work, I was still pretty confident he could handle it.”

Driven by Hewitt, Tri Time was sent forward to find the front from barrier five as early leader, Born To Entertain, was eased to take a trail.

Striding clear at the top of the home straight, the son of Soho Tribeca cruised to a nine-and-a-half metre win from Born To Entertain, with Wicked Motion a neck away third.

“That was a good run from him and he has pulled up in great condition,” Hewitt said. “He’ll have two or three days off now before I find another race for him.

“The semis aren’t for another four weeks, so I’ll find something for him between now then.”

Rating 1:54.4 over 1730 metres, Tri Time was 1.1 seconds quicker than Shes A Delaney in the fillies’ heat.

After working to the front from barrier six, Shes A Delaney dashed to an eight-metre win from Machzine Mahoney, with Lexy Belle a metre away third.

Trained by Anthony Robinson, Shes A Delaney took her record to five wins and three placings from 10 starts.
