Queensland campaign on the cards
CAMPAIGNS north of the border are on the cards for promising youngsters My Ultimate Sunny and Karakajack Tooth.
With several key targets available for the stablemates, prominent trainer Jarrod Alchin is contemplating taking the three-year-olds to Queensland next month.
My Ultimate Sunny is eligible for the rich Qbred Series, while Karakajack Tooth will be placed on the Trotters’ Oaks trail.
For the Sunshine State trip to come to fruition, however, My Ultimate Sunny and Karakajack Tooth will need to impress Alchin at Club Menangle tomorrow night when the pair clash in a HRNSW Foundation Final over 2300 metres.
“I am looking at taking them to Queensland for the winter, but we’ll get past Saturday night first,” Alchin said. “If they run to expectations I’ll head north with them.”
Making a triumphant debut in a series heat last week, My Ultimate Sunny has fared better in barrier three, with Cameron Hart to partner the son of Majestic Son.
Winner of her last two outings, Karakajack Tooth has drawn gate six, with Will Rixon to take the reins.
“Sunny has come along nicely since his first start and has drawn to make a go of it,” Alchin said. “This is his first time over 2300 metres though, so we’ll soon see how he handles it.
“Karakajack is quite strong over the trip and will enjoy the conditions.”
