HANDY youngster Bullion Girl is likely to be given the opportunity to grab a share of history during the weekend.

Successful in yesterday’s South Australia Trotters’ Oaks at Globe Derby, Bullion Girl may take on the ‘boys’ in Saturday night’s Trotters’ Derby at the same venue.

Though keen to test the daughter of Wishing Stone against her male counterparts, trainer Shaun Adams will wait until he views the nominations for the Blue Riband before making a decision.

Afternoondelite is the only filly to win both features after proven too good in 2009.

It should be noted, the Oaks hasn’t been run since 2011 before being reignited this season.

“She has come through the run well and I will give some serious thought about putting her around again in the Derby,” Adams said. “I’ll put her in the noms and see how tough it looks before making a decision.

“She’s done a good job this time in, and while she deserves a shot at the Derby, I may even give her a break.”

With Adams in the cart, Bullion Girl was caught wide from barrier five before working to the lead as early front runner, Majestic Summer, was eased to take a trail.

Never seriously challenged, Bullion Girl cruised to a 10-and-a-half metre win from Janes Gem, with Majestic Summer a half-head away third.

“Going on her recent Victorian form, it looked like her race to lose, but she still had to get the job done,” Adams said. “After she found the front she was always going to be hard to run down and won with plenty up her sleeve.”

Co-owned by Adams, the three-year-old rated 2:04.5 over 2230 metres to take her record to five wins and four placings from 18 starts for earnings of $28,370.
