Stablemates facing daunting first-up tasks
RETURNING from a spell stablemates Cyclone S Adams and Arocknatthepark face daunting first-up tasks during the weekend.
The pair are poised to compete at Saturday night’s Tabcorp Park Melton meeting where difficult draws and strong opposition await.
Successful at three of his last five starts – with a third also to his credit – during his previous campaign, Cyclone S Adams will begin from barrier six over 2240 metres.
“He went well at trials the other day and appears to have come back nicely,” trainer Tony Calabria said.
“He had a virus which is why he didn’t race so well at his last start, but that seems to be well behind him now.
“I’m happy with his work and expect him to perform much better than last time around.
“Although he has been working well and did a good job in his trial, he is still in need of the run and will improve on whatever he does on Saturday night.
“That’s not to say he can’t win with the right run!”
Faring better in the draw, Justamollyarcher is the one to beat for Andy Gath.
Boasting three wins and a third from four starts since crossing the Tasman, Justamollyarcher is a $3 favourite from gate four.
Cyclone S Adams is listed at $4.50.
“Justamollyarcher appears to be a nice type which has fitness and the draw on his side,” Calabria said. “Norquay also goes well and can’t be discarded even from the second row.”
Like Cyclone S Adams, Arocknatthepark has drawn poorly on the outside of the front row for his first-up assignment since February 6.
“He wasn’t going as well as expected last time in so he was given a good break and seems to have come back better acclimatised,” Calabria.
“He’ll also need the run, but with the right luck he will be thereabouts.”
