Star youngster primed for title defence

STAR youngster Im Ready Jet served notice she is primed for her title defence with a soft win in Maryborough yesterday.

Having her third start from a spell, Im Ready Jet captured the Aldebaran Park Gold Bracelet – one of several features during the famed Redwood Classic card.

Pleased to have the trotter back on the winners’ list, trainer Anton Golino has set his sights on the Australasian Breeders’ Crown.

Heats of the futurity are scheduled to be run in Maryborough on November 12.

Im Ready Jet made a demolition job of last season’s Crown Final, winning by 20 metres in 2:00.9 over 2240 metres.

“It’s good to see her back in winning form,” Golino said. “I’ve had a few issues with her tying up this time in but she has come good at the right time.

“With a few runs under her belt she is now ready to go on with it.

“We’ll head back to Maryborough for the Crown heats and hopefully she can go all the way like last season.”

Driven by Jason Le during her latest victory, Im Ready Jet was settled towards the tail of the field from her second row draw as Queen Of Crime led early before being eased to take a trail behind Illawong Stardust.

Gaining a three-wide trail along the back straight, Im Ready Jet was taken to the extreme outside on the final bend before sprinting to a four-and-a-half metre win from Tailored Elegance.

Majestical Belle battled on bravely to be six-and-a-half metres away third after racing in the ‘death seat’.

Bred and owned by Yabby Dam Farms, the daughter of Quaker Jet rated 1:56.8 over 1690 metres to take her record to seven wins and two thirds from 14 starts for earnings of $112,270.
