PACING For Pink at Club Menangle has drawn to a close for 2023 with the club proudly announcing $16,295.00 has been donated to the campaign which supports the McGrath Foundation by raising funds and awareness for their McGrath Breast Care Nurses.

Across the nine meetings held at the world class venue throughout May, Club Menangle committed to donating:

    • $200 for each win by a driver wearing Pink Pants
    • $200 for each female training win
    • $200 for each win by a horse carrying saddlecloth Number 8

Overall 63 pink wins contributed to Club Menangle’s donation, including the ‘triple dip’ by Don Hugo.

Scoring on May 9, Don Hugo’s success was worth $600 for the cause as he began from barrier eight for leading female Belinda McCarthy, while being driven by her husband, Luke, who wore the pink pants.

Polly Put Kettleon’s victory also resulted in a $600 donation after beginning from gate eight for trainer-driver, Sofia Arvidsson.

Club Menangle Chief Executive Officer Bruce Christison said, “It was our second consecutive year being involved in the Pacing For Pink campaign, and it is fantastic to see that it has again been a great success.

“Congratulations and thank you to all participants, sponsors and guests of Club Menangle who supported the Pacing For Pink campaign.”

On Tuesday, 30 May, Club Menangle turned pink for the second edition of our Pacing For Pink High Tea as guests came together to raise additional funds and awareness for the McGrath Foundation.

The afternoon was filled with plenty of excitement on and off the track. Not only did guests enjoy bubbles, sweet and savoury treats and entertainment, but there was also action-packed harness racing with seven pink winners for the day.

Sky Racing Presenter Cassie Fahey was the Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon and was joined by New South Wales’ premier harness racing caller Fred Hastings, who provided tips before media personality and harness racing trainer-driver Brittany Graham spoke about her career in the industry.

McGrath Breast Care Nurse Erin Williamson also addressed guests about the vital work of the McGrath Foundation. The McGrath Foundation’s mission is to ensure that no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a breast care nurse.

The McGrath Foundation funds 185 McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia, who have supported over 110,000 families since 2005.

Marg Watson, Pacing For Pink Coordinator, said “Pacing For Pink would like to extend a very big thank you to Club Menangle for their support.

“We are enormously grateful the initiatives supported by Club Menangle have helped raise funds and also assisted in increasing awareness about breast cancer.”

Club Menangle would like to thank all participants who supported Pacing For Pink and those who attended and sponsored our High Tea event.
