Time to test rising star mare
RISING star Sister Patrick is set to face an acid test in coming weeks.
Continuing her rapid rise through the grades with a stylish victory at Globe Derby last night, Sister Patrick will make her next appearance in a feature trot at the same venue on November 21.
Racing in sensational form, Sister Patrick boasts eight wins and a third from nine starts this season for respected horsewoman Claire Goble.
Understandably impressed with the daughter of Father Patrick, Goble stated it was time to ‘test’ the mare.
“She has done a terrific job this year,” Goble said. “She has been a challenge though, but is improving all the time.
“She had a few issues, such as times when she didn’t want to participate and was being difficult at the barrier last season, but has come a long way with maturity.
“There is a trot feature on in a few weeks, which is a standing start for National Rating 60 or better I will put her in next.
“She won her two previous starts from the stand, so that’s not an issue, but the jump in class will be a pretty good test for her.”
Settled midfield from barrier six during her latest outing, Sister Patrick sustained a three-wide run during the latter stages to score by four-and-a-half metres from Ima Destroyer.
Majestic Summer was 14 metres away third as the winner rated 2:01.7 over 2230 metres.
