Trainer registers third Cup win in five years!

PROMINENT horseman Anton Golino has continued his strong affiliation with the E B Cochran Cup.

Capturing the feature in Ballarat just moments ago, Golino registered his third win in the Group Two for the past five editions.

Successful in 2018 with My Tribeca, Golino was then triumphant with Dance Craze in 2020.

Golino’s latest etching on the honour roll came via exciting mare, Im Ready Jet.

“I’ve said all along she’s a very nice mare and now she is starting to really come of age,” Golino said.

“She’s won Group races every season she has raced, and this season is already no different just a few weeks into the year.

“Hopefully she can add a few more before the year is out, especially in a couple of week’s time.”

Golino’s “in a couple of week’s time” is in reference to the Great Southern Star at Tabcorp Park Melton on February 4.

Golino is no stranger to Great Southern Star victory, having secured the Group One with Dance Craze in 2019.

“The Dullard Cup is on next week, but at this stage she will miss that and go straight into the Great Southern Star,” Golino said. “With a bit of luck she can match Dance Craze again by winning that too.”

As for her latest win, Im Ready Jet was settled two-back in the running line from her second row draw as Majestic Man worked to the lead.

Taken three-wide without cover by Jason Lee along the back straight, the daughter of Quaker Jet sustained a strong sprint to score by two metres from Maori Law.

Lotamuscle was two metres away third in 1:59.3.

Bred and owned by Yabby Dam Farms, the five-year-old took her record to 16 wins and eight placings from 34 starts for earnings of $298,700.
