Trio to make stable debut

AS A result of his ever growing team, Ben Weidenbach will have a trio of interesting runners at Globe Derby tomorrow.

Each will make their debut for the astute trainer, with two set to clash in the fourth event on the card.

Recently imported from New South Wales, Itsallandover will be first-up since his fifth at Club Menangle on February 17 when prepared by Inter Dominion winning horseman Kevin Pizzuto.

“I’ve had him here for a few weeks and he has felt faultless,” Weidenbach said. “There have been no issues at all.

“He ate up as soon as he got here, has settled in brilliantly and is working a treat.

“He’s been around long enough to be a seasoned professional in that regard, so I’m very pleased with him.”

To be driven by Mario Borg, Itsallandover has drawn to settle in a prominent position from barrier three along the front line of the 2230-metre handicap.

Looking to break a 29-month drought from the winners’ circle, the son of Andover Hall has been kept safe in betting at $10.

“He hasn’t won for a while, but he got here in good order and has kept that going,” Weidenbach said. “I fast worked him a few days ago and he felt super.”

Weidenbach will also be represented by Sir Ed, which joined his stable following an unplaced effort at Globe Derby on June 6.

With Samantha Hill to take the reins, Sir Ed is one of three starters on the 20-metre mark.

“I brought him last month and planned to start him sooner, but the weather put us back a bit,” Weidenbach explained. “He’s been a handful, like a bull at the gate, but he has taken everything we’ve thrown at him on the training track and shown a bit of improvement.”

Another arrival from Pizzuto’s barn, Ronnys Watching will begin from the pole with Borg in the cart.

“He’s ready to go,” Weidenbach said. “He will certainly benefit from the run, but he’s feeling pretty good.

“From the draw I expect a good run from him.
