Veteran chasing consecutive wins
VETERAN pacer Cracka Stride is well-placed to complete consecutive wins at Albion Park today.
Successful at the home of Queensland racing a fortnight ago, the 10-year-old is engaged in the last race on the card for trainer Dan Russell.
Cracka Stride has only managed to register back-to-back wins twice in 121 starts, the first in 2014 and the second in 2018, with both coming in New South Wales.
Russell has no doubt the son of Christian Cullen is ready to notch his third set of consecutive wins.
“He went very well last start,” Russell said. “I’m even more pleased with the way he pulled up and has trained on this week.
“If he brings his A-game like he did last week he can sit in the ‘death’ and win today.
“That said, from the draw we will go forward looking for the front.”
To be driven by Chris Geary, Cracka Stride has drawn to settle forward from barrier three.
According to Russell, however, finding the early lead may not be an option given quick beginner Comply Or Die will come out of gate two.
“The draw has got to help,” Russell said. “It gives him a chance to settle in a prominent spot early.
“There is a bit of speed inside him, but we will go forward and see.
“Comply Or Die is hard to run down when he leads as he keeps on finding and that could be the case from his draw.
“Change Of Mind and Sabrage are the favoured pair but it could be a bit hard for them coming from the back row given the speed will be on.”
