Wide draw no danger to winning streak
JUST as he did a fortnight ago, rampaging pacer Cash N Flow is expected to continue his stellar form despite another tough draw at Club Menangle on Saturday night.
Winner of his last six starts for trainer Craig Cross, Cash N Flow has not only scored from barriers eight, nine and 10, he has done so in impressive fashion.
Along with a pair of 1:50.1 victories, the son of Mach Three has stopped the clock in 1:49.6, 1:49.7 and 1:49.8.
Cash N Flow covered the 1609-metre trip in 1:50.2 during his latest win.
“He’s a great miler,” Cross said. “He’s the perfect free-for-aller, especially over the sprint.
“He’s running those times on cold nights and doing it easily.”
As for his pending assignment, Cash N Flow will once again begin from gate 10 in the Golden Mile which is to be conducted over his “pet distance”.
Despite the gelding’s starting position Cross remains positive Cash N Flow can stretch his winning sequence.
Betting markets agree with Cross’ assessment, with the seven-year-old a $1.40 favourite with TAB Fixed Odds.
The Black Prince from gate nine and Replaced Eye are the only other runners under double figures at $3.70 and $8.
Also trained by Cross, Replaced Eye has drawn barrier nine.
“It’d be nice if he drew close to the inside fence instead of the outside one every now and then,” Cross said.
“That said, he’s been too good from the wide draws and I can’t see any reason why that will change on the weekend.
“He’s still going to have to be at the top of his game, but that’s exactly where he is at.”
Cross also has Cant Refuse and Little Rascal in the field, with the pair to come from barriers two and four.
“The Black Prince is in good form and is the biggest threat,” Cross said. “Replaced Eye is racing well enough and will go close again.”
