Youngster has huge hoof prints to follow
SHE’S got a height advantage over her star siblings, but that’s the only comparison trainer Emma Stewart is prepared to make at this stage.
Set to make her debut in Saturday night’s Sapling Stake at Tabcorp Park Melton, Elysian Jay has some big hoof prints to follow.
From broodmare gem Beninjured, Elysian Jay is a sister to dual Group One winner Centenario and a half-sister to triple Group One winner, Tough Tilly, and Lightning Dan, which has also been successful at Group One level.
“I like her, but she’s got a lot to prove before she can be mentioned alongside the other three,” Stewart said.
“She is taller than them though, so that’s one comparison I can point out at this early stage.
“I have been happy with the way she’s come along as she does have her share of ability.”
To be driven by Kate Gath, Elysian Jay has drawn to search for the lead from barrier two, which has seen TAB Fixed Odds list the daughter of American Ideal as a $2.30 favourite.
The two-year-old’s stablemate, Keayang Blue Jeans, is considered the main danger at $2.70 from the pole.
Keayang Blue Jeans has been runner-up at her two starts.
“She is going to be hard to beat from the draw,” Stewart said. “She has been doing everything right at home and gives the impression she is ready to win first-up.
“That said, whatever she does on the weekend she will definitely improve on for the run.
“Keayang Blue Jeans has done well and is likely to get the perfect trip, which puts her in a strong position to break her maiden.”
