ADC meeting to attract interstate nominations

ALWAYS abuzz on a Saturday night, Globe Derby is expected to take the excitement to another level next week.

The home of South Australian harness racing, the venue hosts the state’s main program each week, including tomorrow evening’s card crammed with solid form and evenly-matched fields.

In the opening race alone there are five last-start winners!

As for next week, some of the nation’s best will converge at the track to clash in the Australian Drivers’ Championship.

The line-up consists of a pair of drivers from each state including defending champion – West Australian superstar Gary Hall junior.

Hall’s opposition includes formers champions, Queensland’s Pete McMullen and local hero, Wayne Hill.

With the meeting consisting of eight penalty-free races – each worth $10,000 – drivers aren’t the only raiders predicted to make their way to Adelaide.

Several Victorian stables are considering nominated runners, with the conditions particularly inviting to those in regions such as Terang, Horsham, Ouyen, Hamilton and particularly Mildura.

The latter has been a happy hunting ground for ‘Croweaters’ in recent years, with those from the Sunraysia district given the perfect opportunity to reverse the trend and extract some revenge.

Nominations for the Australian Drivers’ Championship meeting close on Tuesday, September 13 at 8.30am SA time.
