Another step towards noteworthy target
MULTIPLE Group One winning trotter Tough Monarch will take another step towards a noteworthy target connections have set when he returns to Club Menangle on Saturday night.
Winner around the world class venue last weekend, Tough Monarch stretched his earnings to $487,764 – the result of 28 victories and 15 placings from 85 starts.
Although he has established long term goals such as the Inter Dominion and another interstate campaign, trainer Rickie Alchin’s immediate target with the son of Monarchy is to pass $500,000.
“I’d like to get him over the half million mark,” Alchin said. “To earn as much as he has is already a great result, especially for a trotter, but going passed $500,000 would be great.
“He’ll have a couple more runs at Menangle during the next few weeks and can hopefully pass it before we head back down to Victoria for the Bill Collins Sprint in October.
“After that I will give him a freshen-up before the Inter Dominion heats in November.”
With Alchin campaigning his team in Queensland, Jarrod Alchin will once again take the reins behind the squaregaiter.
When Jarrod drove the nine-year-old two starts ago it was the first time he had partnered Tough Monarch since winning at Menangle in September 2017.
As was the case during their previous outing, the pair have once again drawn wide – barrier seven!
“The draw isn’t the best, but it’s not a big concern either,” Alchin said. “There’s only seven in the field, so no matter where he settles he won’t be far off the speed.”
