APG purchase aiming to join all-time superstars

IT’S an article which should almost be on a repetitive cycle…another program of Group Ones, another collection of Australian Pacing Gold graduates chasing glory.

Three top shelf events are scheduled to be conducted at Tabcorp Park Melton tomorrow night, with nine APG purchases in the thick of the action.

The ‘Narly Nine’ consists of Narutac Prince, Bondi Lockdown, Captain Crusader, Rogue Wave, Maajida, Phoenix Prince, Mach Dan, Malcolms Rhythm and Max Delight.

Four are already Group One winners, with another three successful at Group Two level.

The quartet includes multiple feature star Max Delight, which is aiming to become the 10^th pacer to capture the Victoria and A G Hunter Cups.

Should the son of Bettors Delight complete the pair his name will sit alongside such superstars as Koala King, Popular Alm, Preux Chevalier, Blacks A Fake, Mr Feelgood, Christen Me, Bling It On, Lazarus and Tiger Tara.

Max Delight managed the first half of the rare feat when he outclassed a strong field in the Victoria Cup last October.

Elsewhere on the card, wonder mare Maajida will be searching for her fifth Group One at her 38^th start when she lines-up in the Ladyship Cup.

The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere has been kept fresh since securing a four-year-old Group One Vicbred Super Series Final in Melton on New Year’s Eve.

That victory saw Maajida become just the second pacer to complete a clean sweep of the three age-restricted Finals.

Those hoping to own the next Maajida have the opportunity to purchase her half-sister during Sunday’s APG Sale in Melbourne.

By Captain Treacherous from Arterial Way, the filly is bred along similar lines as Maajida given Captain Treacherous is a son of Somebeachsomewhere.

The filly will enter the ring as Lot 180.
