HIGH class mare Star Celebrity won’t have to look far to find the biggest threat to her winning streak.
Racing in sensational form, Star Celebrity has won her last six starts with consummate ease.
Looking to extend her sequence in Melton on Saturday night, the daughter of Always B Miki will compete against a solid field in the Alabar Mares’ Sprint Championship.
Among Star Celebrity’s rivals is her Emma Stewart-trained stablemate, Whatadelight.
Not only has Whatadelight been impressive winning her three starts by an average of 12 metres, she has fared better in the barrier draw.
To be driven by Mark Pitt, Whatadelight is expected to search for the lead from barrier three, while Star Celebrity will require early luck from the outside of the back row.
“Star Celebrity is in a zone and is going to be hard to beat no matter where she draws,” Stewart said. “This time around the draw just happens to be 11, which is far from ideal over the short trip.
“That’s not to say she can’t or won’t win!
“Whatadelight hasn’t set a foot wrong and has the draw to make it interesting.”
Although the ‘third stinger’ of the crew, High Profile shapes as the ‘most likely’ to upstage both her stablemates.
Winner of her heat, High Profile should gain a perfect passage from barrier four.
Also by Always B Miki, High Profile is from the same family as Star Celebrity.
“High Profile is coming along very nicely,” Stewart said. “Her two runs from a spell have been good and she will be a lot fitter for the Final.”
