LIVING up to his name during the weekend, Lethal Louie is set to deliver another reminder of his talent tonight.

Heading into last Saturday’s Globe Derby meeting with wins at his three previous starts, Lethal Louie stretched his sequence to four with a dominant display against older opposition.

Driven by Jayson Finnis, the son of Sweet Lou was untouched on his way to a 17-metre triumph in 1:57.1 over 1800 metres.

“He is in great form and we couldn’t be happier with him,” Finnis said. “His run at Globe Derby was exactly what we expected from him and he has come through it in perfect condition.

“Naturally it’s going to get harder for him as he goes up in grade, but he will also improve as he gains experience.

“He’s only had 14 starts for seven wins and four placings, so he’s doing a great job while he learns as he goes.”

As for his pending assignment, Lethal Louie will once again compete against older rivals, including his Alyce Finnis-trained stablemate, True Blue Rose, in Mount Gambier.

Successful during her last two outings, True Blue Rose has drawn the pole, with Lethal Louie to come from barrier two.

The pair dominate betting at $1.20 and $3.50, with Lethal Louie the favourite.

“He is going to be very hard to beat again,” Finnis said. “It’s only a small field, which can be tricky at times, but he is ready to get the job done again.”
