Conceding defeat but not giving up either!

ALTHOUGH she has conceded defeat, Dale Belford hasn’t given up the ghost ahead of tonight’s Albion Park meeting.

Belford is set to contest a Qbred Triad Final with My China Doll which is given little of hope capturing the Group One.

A last start winner in Redcliffe against lower grade opposition, My China Doll has drawn the middle of the second line.

TAB Fixed Odds have reacted to the three-year-old’s sharp rise in class and barrier by listing her as a rank outsider at $151.

“I can’t see her winning,” Belford said. “I lot would have to go her way to even run a placing.

“Stranger things have happened in racing and it’s a case of you’ve got to be in it to win it.

“I’ll be happy with her if she can finish midfield.”

At the opposite end of the market Talent To Spare is a $1.90 favourite, with Belford stating the filly appears to be a cut above her rivals.

Trained and driven by Trent Dawson, Talent To Spare boasts six wins and three seconds from 12 starts.

The daughter of Hurrikane Kingcole will begin from the outside of the back row.

“Talent To Spare is pretty well-named,” Belford said. “I think she will be too good on the night.

“Jasper won last year’s Final when we finished fourth and she is the main danger to the favourite.

“Hopefully we get a good run through, and as I said, finish at least midfield.”
