ON PAPER Saturday night’s draw appears to have put a dampener on Rockinwithattitude’s bid to join an elite sorority.
Winner of last weekend’s New South Wales Trotters’ Oaks at Club Menangle, Rockinwithattitude will return to the world class venue for the Trotters’ Derby.
As such the daughter of Aldebaran Eagle will attempt to become the fourth filly to capture the pair of Blue Ribands since the Oaks was added to the calendar in 1999.
Jauriol in 2005, Right Interest in 2006 and Habibti in 2013 are the only members of the ‘fairer sex’ to achieve the feat.
Rockinwithattitude’s prospects look as though they have hit a minor snag after the three-year-old draw barrier five.
Trainer David Miles, however, remains confident Rockinwithattitude can add the Derby to her impressive tally of 10 wins and three placings from 15 starts.
“It’s not ideal, but not the worst either,” Miles said. “She has gate speed, so I will be using it.
“We’ll certainly be going forward and having a look for the lead.”
TAB Fixed Odds have Rockinwithattitude listed on the third line of betting at $4.20, with Watts Up Partytime at the head of the market at $3.80 from barrier three.
Despite drawing wide in 10, Gotfeelingsyouknow, which is undefeated from four starts, is the main danger according to Miles.
“I’m a little surprises with who is favourite,” Miles said. “I rate Gotfeelingsyouknow as the one to beat even from his draw.”
