Consistency rewarded as breeding barn looms
CONSISTENCY was rewarded in Kilmore last night.
Racing in solid form this campaign, well-bred trotter Tiara Stride corrected a recent stint of near-misses with an overdue victory.
Prepared by Alexandra Hurley, Tiara Stride had been among the placings at three of her previous four starts, including a second in Kilmore, beaten a neck!
“She has been going so well and I felt it was just a matter of time before she got another win,” Hurley said.
“I knew if she led she would be in it a long way again, but it was just a matter of how long she could stay in front.
“In the end she did it quite easily and I’m just rapt for her to get another win as she has earned it.
“She has been trotting so much better this time in and I was as confident as you can be with a trotter.”
Catch-driven by Greg Sugars, Tiara Stride led comfortably from barrier two before cruising to a 15-and-a-half metre win from Reigning Lillies.
Kyvalley Paint was a half neck away third.
Rating 2:02.5 over 2180 metres, Tiara Stride also increased her value as a broodmare, with Hurley planning to breed from the five-year-old this season.
By Amore Stride, the squaregaiter is from American mare, Nitengale Stride, which boasts three winners from three starters.
“We will get in foal this year and will be looking to breeder her to one of the top stallions,” Hurley said.
