HIS namesake was left lamenting last night, but Petracca proved his class in Melton just moments ago.

One of the nation’s most exciting three-year-olds, Petracca is named after star AFL player, Christian Petracca, from the Melbourne Football Club.

Unfortunately for Christian, the Demons suffered their second loss to Carlton in five matches, with the defeat ending the club’s Finals campaign…Go Blues!

As for Petracca the pacer, he dominated his Final – Vicbred Super Series – for trainer Emma Stewart.

With Mark Pitt in the cart, the son of Captaintreacherous led throughout from the pole to secure a soft 10-and-a-half metre win from his stablemate, Techys Watching.

Perfect Class completed a Stewart trifecta when a head away third.

Rating 1:55.2 over 2240 metres, Petracca provided Stewart with her second Group One win of the evening following on from Stormryder’s triumph in the two-year-old division.

Also driven by Pitt, Stormryder set the pace on his way to an eight-metre win from another stablemate, Some American.

Another by Captaintreacherous, the colt took his record to an impeccable six wins and a second from seven starts for earnings of $186,000.

“They both went terrific,” Stewart said. “We felt they were clearly the two to beat and they ran accordingly.

“They’ll have a light few days now before we look at what’s next for them.”

HOOFNOTE: Stewart claimed a third Group One and second trifecta thanks to Draw A Dream in the Final for two-year-old fillies.

Driven by Kerryn Manning, the daughter of Hes Watching rated 1:56.3 over 2240 metres as Renewal and Eureka Jo filled the placings.

Draw A Dream is unbeaten from four starts.
