Feature to determine filly’s campaign
TOMORROW night’s Raith Memorial will decide the next phase of Keep Rockin’s campaign.
Unbeaten from three starts this season, the exceptionally-bred filly is being considered for a trip south for the Victoria Oaks.
Heats of the Blue Riband are scheduled to be conducted during next week’s stellar Ballarat Cup night, with the Final set down for January 25 at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Should Keep Rockin perform to expectation in the Menangle-based Group Two trainer Michael Doltoff will press ahead with the interstate campaign.
“This will be a good test for her to see where she is at,” Doltoff said. “It will decide whether we go to Melbourne or stay home.
“She was pretty impressive against older horses at her last start and has done everything asked of her this time in.
“She’s certainly heading in the right direction.”
To be driven by Luke McCarthy, Keep Rockin has drawn barrier four but slots into three with the removal of the emergency.
The daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven and multiple Group One winning mare Kept For Pleasure is on the second line of betting at $4.40 with TAB Fixed Odds.
New Zealand raider Dr Susan is the $1.50 favourite from gate five for trainer Cran Dalgety.
Mustang Milly from barrier eight is the only other runner under double figures at $9.50.
“I’m happy with her draw,” Doltoff said. “She is very fast out of the gate so we will use her speed to get into a forward position, I will leave the rest up to Luke after that.
“Dr Susan comes over with good credentials and shapes as the one to beat.
“A few of the locals go well so it is a strong field.”
