STILL THE FAVOURITE: Leap To Fame will need to overcome a horror draw to win the Miracle Mile.

SURELY by now, at least in harness racing jargon, it’s time to add to the list of superlatives.

Thanks to his performance at Albion Park just moments ago, Leap To Fame has become a superlative of his own.

A week after making a strong field of three and four-year-olds look second rate in The Rising Sun, Leap To Fame has embarrassed his open class opposition in the Sunshine Sprint.

Rating a race record 1:50.1 over 1660 metres, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase took his tally to 22 wins and five placings from 28 starts for earnings of $899,182!

Leap To Fame’s time took three-tenths of a second from Im Themightyquinn’s stance set in 2014.

“I’m super proud of him,” trainer Grant Dixon said. “He’s got terrific stamina, great speed and big will to win.”

With Dixon in the cart, Leap To Fame was eased towards the tail of the field from his outside of the front row draw as Betterzippit led from the pole.

Taken three-wide entering the back straight, Leap To Fame was then angled back into the running line to avoid the tiring I Cast No Shadow before once again commencing a three-wide run.

Sustaining a scintillating sprint, the son of Bettors Delight dashed to a three-metre win from Spirit Of St Louis.

Hot And Treacherous was two metres away third.

“He had some difficulties to get through at some stages, but in the end, he got a good run,” Dixon said. “He hit the line well and had a bit up his sleeve.

“As long as he pulls up as we want, he will go around again next week in The Blacks A Fake as planned.”
