SHE’S not going into the track with dreams of grandeur, but that’s not to say Kaycee Carey isn’t hoping for a successful debut.

Carey is set to have her first starter as a trainer at Globe Derby when Feisty Jane – also making her maiden appearance – takes her place in race four today.

Carey and ‘Jane’ will be joined by Samantha Pascoe and Authentic in the same race as fellow debutantes!

“Excited and nervous” by the occasion, Carey expects Feisty Jane to make her presence felt despite the inexperience.

To be driven by champion reinswoman Dani Hill, the daughter of Pet Rock will begin from barrier five.

“I’m really looking forward to having her at the races,” Carey said. “I’m both excited and nervous at the same time.

“She has been working well, but will need the run and experience.

“As long as she gets around safely and shows a bit of effort I will be happy.”

Like Pascoe, Carey stated she is utilising the race as a glorified trial given the lack of options available.

“Today is going to be as much a trial as it is a race given we haven’t been able to get trials here,” Carey said.

“It’s terrible here when you want to trial before a race, but can’t get one.

“I’d love to see her win, but like I said, I’m more concerned about getting her around safely and do everything right at this stage.

“She needs the run, which a trial would have helped with, and if she does happen win it will be a wonderful bonus.”
