In a perfect position to claim coveted title
STRIKING form at the ideal time, The Pantheist is in a prime position to claim the coveted Triple Crown title at Tabcorp Park Melton tonight.
Runner-up in the opening leg, The Pantheist captured the second round – Angelique Club Pace – in Geelong last week.
The victory was The Pantheist’s first from 14 starts for the season.
To trainer David Miles’ delight, the mare has drawn perfectly in the final leg of the trilogy, Queen of the Pacific.
With Chris Alford set to continue his association with the daughter of Bettors Delight, The Pantheist will begin from the pole.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better time for her to hit winning form,” Miles said. “Looking back at her record, except for one, all of her wins have been in August and Spring, so maybe it’s just the right time of the year for her.
“Whatever the reason, she is in a zone at the track and been working the place down at home.
“Tonight is going to be another test for her, but she’s got the right draw to really make a go of it.”
Despite her form and draw, The Pantheist is on the fourth line of betting at $7.50 with TAB Fixed Odds.
Grand Circuit winning mare Amazing Dream heads the market at $1.65 from barrier four.
“Amazing Dream is clearly the one to beat,” Miles said. “She’s quick out of the gate and should be the obvious leader.
“Our best chance is to also come out and hope to be on her back.”
