Injury ends superstar’s season

SUPERSTAR mare Keayang Zahara will miss the remainder of the season.

Sent for a spell following her TAB Trot victory in Cambridge last April, Keayang Zahara was scheduled to trial in coming weeks ahead of another trip to New Zealand in November.

Co-trainers Marg and Paddy Lee had set the Bill Collins Sprint in Melton on October 17 as the trotter’s first major target this campaign.

With the daughter of Volstead faltering during track work this week, the Lees ordered a veterinary inspection which revealed Keayang Zahara had a tendon strain.

As such, the five-year-old will be sidelined for up to two months, ruling out further racing this season.

Dominating the first half of the season with a perfect record from eight starts, Keayang Zahara’s overall tally sits at 28 wins and a second from 29 starts for earnings of $1,506,037.
