HE’S entering a Group One with the reigning champion which is in strong form, but Anton Golino is anything but confident of a successful title defence.
Golino, who co-trains his team with Jack MacKinnon, has Im Ready Jet engaged in an Australasian Breeders’ Crown Final at Tabcorp Park Melton tomorrow night.
Im Ready Jet captured last season’s two-year-old division by rating 2:00.9 over 2240 metres to score from Jaxnme and Illawong Stardust.
Winner of the Gold Bracelet in Maryborough two starts ago, the daughter of Quaker Jet then finished second in her Crown heat at the same venue last week.
“She is going as well as we can have her, but it’s hard to see her winning,” Golino said. “She is going to need her share of luck that’s for sure.
“She came from the same draw to win last year, so with a bit of luck that’s an omen and she can do it again.
“Guess time will tell.”
Driven by Glenn Craven in 2019, Im Ready Jet will be partnered by his cousin, Jason Lee, this time around.
As Golino alluded to, the trotter will begin from barrier eight.
“She does follow Queen Of Crime through at the start, which will hopefully see her get a good trip,” Golino said.
“Queen Of Crime and Aldebaran Tess are flying for Mattie (Craven) and it’s hard to see them being beaten.”
