ADOPTING a ‘little fish are sweet’ philosophy has paid dividends for Glitter Aint Gold’s connections.

A decision was made to bypass the Inter Dominion with the son of Bling It On in hope of banking “good money” while the big fish are away.

As of last night’s Club Menangle meeting Glitter Aint Gold has earned $50,850 – the result of three wins and a third from five starts.

Thrilled with Glitter Aint Gold’s performances, trainer Nathan Turnbull has no doubt the crew “pulled the right rein”.

“Having him in the Inter Dominion is appealing, but we looked at it realistically,” Turnbull said. “He’s a step below the real top ones and had a better chance of picking up some good money here.

“Last night was his third win in a $30,00 race, so we pulled the right rein.”

With Turnbull’s son Jett in the cart, Glitter Aint Gold travelled midfield before finishing with a solid sprint to score by a neck from Betterthancash.

Lux Aeterna was a half-neck away third in 1:51.9 over a mile.

“The race was run to suit him and he was good enough to take advantage of that,” Turnbull said. “He goes well when driven with a sit as he showed.

“He is in a zone at the moment, so we’ll just keep poking him around and looking for the right races.”
