Love affair continues

VICTORIAN squaregaiter Rockinwithattitude continued her love affair with Club Menangle tonight.

Rockinwithattitude has been sent across the border to race at the world class venue on four occasions by trainer David Miles, with the trips netting three wins – all Group Ones.

As a three-year-old the daughter of Aldebaran Eagle captured the 2023 New South Wales Trotters’ Oaks and Derby before an unplaced effort in the Hammerhead Mile six weeks ago.

There were no such problems this time around, with Rockinwithattitude triumphant in the $100,000 MacArthur Mile.

“She really enjoys racing at Menangle,” Miles said. “The syndicate which owns her includes a couple of members from Sydney, so it’s great she can do such a wonderful job up here for them.”

Driven by Miles, Rockinwithattitude showed brilliant speed to lead from barrier eight as the hot favourite, Jilliby Ballerini, settled on her back from gate four.

With Jilliby Ballerini issuing a challenge around the final turn, the pair strode clear of the field before Rockinwithattitude broke away for a 12-and-a-half metre win from Jilliby Dreamlover.

American-bred mare Aldebaran Acrux was three metres away third.

Covering the 1609-metre trip in 1:52.1, Rockinwithattitude stretched her record to 23 wins and 13 placings from 47 starts for a bankroll of $605,567.

“She’s very fast off the arm and it is that tactical speed which gets her these wins,” Miles said. “She has won Group Ones at two, three and four, didn’t race at five and now has a Group One at six.

“She’s been a warhorse and we just love her.”
