LAST night’s Allied Express Sprint winner, Honolua Bay, is favoured to join a collection of the industry’s immortals next week.

Thanks to his 1:49.3 victory at Club Menangle, Honolua Bay earned a berth in Australasia’s premier speed test – Miracle Mile.

The $1million Garrards-sponsored event will also be conducted around Menangle’s world class 1400-metre circuit.

Success in the Grand Circuit gem will see Honolua Bay become just the seventh pacer to complete the prestigious A G Hunter Cup/Miracle Mile double since the latter’s inception in 1967.

The mighty Pure Steel was the ground breaker in 1978 before being joined by the incomparable Popular Alm in 1983.

Preux Chevalier followed suit in 1985, with Village Kid (’86), Christen Me (2014) and King Of Swing in 2020 and 2022 rounding out the ‘Super Six’.

As for Honolua Bay’s prospects, the son of Somebeachsomewhere has drawn to settle in a forward position from barrier four.

TAB Fixed Odds have reacted by listing the six-year-old as a $2.80 favourite.

Drawn on his outside in gate five, last weekend’s Chariots Of Fire star, Catch A Wave, is considered the biggest threat at $3.80.

In a remarkable effort, Victorian horsewoman Emma Stewart has created another slice of history by being the first trainer to have four starters in a Miracle Mile.

Stewart will also be represented by Hurricane Harley from barrier three, Mach Dan in gate eight and Captain Ravishing, which will begin from nine.

Captain Ravishing is on the fourth line of betting at $5, followed by Hurricane Harley on $9 and Mach Dan at $15.

David Moran will continue his association with Honolua Bay, Mark Pitt will take the reins behind Captain Ravishing and Amanda Turnbull has been booked to drive Hurricane Harley.

A decision is yet to be made on who will partner Newcastle Mile winner, Mach Dan.
