Modest plans despite drought-breaking win
PLANS remain modest for Jamberoo Ark despite his success at Club Menangle yesterday.
Breaking a 12-month drought from the winners’ circle, Jamberoo Ark is set to be given “a week or so off” before trainer Noel Hatcher finds another suitable race for the son of Pet Rock.
“I think he has a few more wins in him,” Hatcher said. “He can certainly get down in grade a little more as he goes along.
“I’ll give him a short break now, which means he will have a week or so off, then I’ll find the next race for him.
“He’ll probably head back to a midweek meeting at Menangle and see how he goes.”
Driven by Blake Fitzpatrick, Jamberoo Ark led throughout from barrier four to complete a five-and-a-half metre win from Ultimate Ad.
Double Said was a half-neck away third in 1:54.2 over a mile.
“He ran third and second during his two previous starts at Menangle, so he was building up to the win,” Hatcher said. “He’s had four starts this time in for the win, two placings and a fourth, so he can’t have gone much better.”
Riding the crest of a wave, Hatcher boasts two last-start winners, with Jamberoo Ark following his stablemate, Jimartee, which scored in Penrith last Thursday night.
“Actually, I’ve got three which have won their last start in the stable now,” Hatcher said. “I just brought Bulli Belle back into work.
“She hasn’t raced for almost two-and-a-half years, but she won her last start before injury put her out!”
