No rest for handy trotter

FRESH from his success in Bendigo last night, handy trotter Dream Over will back-up on Friday.

Leading throughout the 2150-metre stand from the pole, Dream Over’s pending assignment will be under similar conditions in Stawell.

This time around the Katrina Fitzpatrick-trained son of Andover Hall will begin from two over 2180 metres.

Dream Over is no stranger to backing-up, having raced on June 3, 6 and 11 before an 11-day ‘break’ heading into his latest outing.

“He has pulled up a treat from his win,” Fitzpatrick said. “He is very fit and came back last night and didn’t even have a blow.

“He was moving around today like he hasn’t even raced and will be ready to go on Friday.”

Although Dream Over will be pitted against a solid field, Fitzpatrick expects the gelding to thrive under his preferred starting method.

“He is better suited to standing starts, which is what I try to keep him in,” Fitzpatrick said. “This race was the next suitable option for him.

“There are some nice trotters and good form in the race, so it won’t be easy.”

As for Dream Over’s win, he rated 2:05.6 with Michael Bellman in the cart as Allanon and Bro Creed filled the placings.

“He went really well,” Fitzpatrick said. “I was sort of confident with him as he is such a good stand horse, but you just don’t know these days.

“He did everything right and I’m so happy with him.”
