Off the market thanks to victory
YESTERDAY’S Tamworth winner Seelster Song has been given a reprieve.
Looking to sell Seelster Song earlier in the week, connections have decided to keep the daughter of Mister Swinger “a little longer”.
In fact, Seelster Song is being sent to Queensland in hope of extending her career.
Trainer Sarah Rushbrook explained the scenario following the mare’s second victory from 59 starts.
“Her owners were ready to sell her and look for another, but that has changed now,” Rushbrook said.
“They are going to keep her now and send her to Queensland for a while as it is really hard to place her here.
“She will go to Graham Dwyer for a month to six weeks and hopefully he can have a better range of options to place her than what we have here.”
With Rushbrook holding the reins, Seelster Song began well from the pole to gain the run of the race behind Maywyns Honey, which led from barrier three.
Angled away from the pegs around the home turn, Seelster Song sprinted to a three-and-a-half metre win from Maywyns Honey.
Cronin was 11 metres away third in 2:00.4 over 1609 metres.
“I was a little confident with her from the draw before the race and even more so when she got the run behind the leader,” Rushbrook said.
“She finished it off really well which was very pleasing.”
