On target to match famous dam

NEW Zealand raider Just Remember Me took the initial step towards matching one of her famous dam’s feats during the weekend.

Making her Australian debut at Club Menangle, Just Remember Me captured the J L Raith Memorial for trainer Cran Dalgety.

Dalgety sent the filly across the Tasman ahead of the New South Wales Oaks, which is scheduled to be conducted at the world class venue on February 26.

Success in the Blue Riband will see Just Remember Me join her mother, Adore Me, as a Group One winner around the 1400-metre circuit.

Adore Me was triumphant in the 2015 Ladyship Mile.

The millionaire mare also captured the Brian Hancock Cup, which shares Group Two status with the Raith Memorial.

“She is a very nice filly which has been getting better with every start,” Dalgety said. “I believe she will thrive on the open space at Menangle and expect her to be better again next time out.

“That was a good way to start her time in Oz and now I will find something else for her as we head towards the Oaks.”

With Jack Trainor in the cart, Just Remember Me was caught four-wide early from barrier nine before working to the lead as Madrid was eased to take a trail.

Proving too slick along the home straight, the daughter of Captaintreacherous scored by two metres from Madrid, with Steno a metre-and-a-half away third.

Covering the mile in 1:51.8, Just Remember Me took her record to three wins and three placings from eight starts for earnings of $78,685.
