Phenomenal strike rate to continue
BOASTING an impressive strike rate with his boutique stable, respected horseman Greg Scholefield is expected to enhance his stats at Globe Derby tonight.
Recently registering a personal milestone when his stable’s earnings passed $1million, Scholefield has a winning rate of 46 per cent this season and 37 per cent for the last decade!
Given he has averaged 26.7 starts during the past 22 years, combined with the low prizemoney on offer in South Australia, Scholefield described his latest achievement as a “pretty fair effort”.
Undertaking the long trip to Globe Derby on a regular basis, Scholefield rarely heads home winless, in fact, his success rate is 61 per cent.
Figuring among the placegetters 33 per cent of the time, Scholefield’s team finishes in the top three at a phenomenal rate of 94 per cent.
As for his pending raid, Scholefield has three runner engaged – all favourites.
Rakero Storm heads the market at $1.70 in race six, with Jawsoflincoln a $1.30 hotshot in the following event.
Hanging Fire rounds out the trio at $1.80 in the last on the card.
“We are run off our feet at the moment with such a big team as we usually only work a couple, but have four going at the moment,” Scholefield joked.
“We got a treble there a couple of weeks ago, which made for a short trip home, so it would be nice if that was the case again tonight.
“Each of them has a strong chance, but they still have to get the job done, which I believe they will.”
