ANY question marks over quality mare Our Princess Tiffany’s health were quickly abolished at Club Menangle tonight.
In fact, the New Zealander proved she is at her peak in just 109.9 seconds.
That’s how long it took Our Princess Tiffany to capture the Robin Dundee Stake and earn a berth in next week’s Ladyship Mile in the process.
Our Princess Tiffany went into the Group Two with an interrupted preparation having reportedly suffered a heart fibrillation last week.
“Last week was not ideal and not the way you want to be heading into some big races, but she showed no ill-effect which is why we were willing to bring her over,” co-trainer Mark Purdon said.
“She felt great during the week, settled in well over here and has run up to her best tonight.”
Purdon prepares his team in partnership with Natalie Rasmussen.
With Purdon in the cart Our Princess Tiffany was eased towards the tail of the field from her wide draw as Speak No Evil led from barrier two.
Taken three-wide into the ‘death seat’ during the middle stages, Our Princess Tiffany sustained a strong sprint to score by a metre-and-a-half from Bettors Heart, with Havtime two metres away third.
“That was a terrific run from her,” Purdon said. “She will benefit from that and be spot on for the Ladyship next week.”
Successful in last season’s New South Wales Oaks, the daughter of Art Major is aiming to become just the fourth winner of the Blue Riband to return to secure the Ladyship Mile.
Cheryl’s Delight was the ground breaker in 1977 followed by Foreal in 2005.
Our Dream About Me won the Oaks in 2016 before capturing the Ladyship Mile last season in what was her swansong.
Our Dream About Me was also trained by Purdon and Rasmussen.
The power couple also combined to annex the Ladyship Mile with Adore Me in 2015 and A Piccadilly Princess in 2017.
