PROMISING youngster’s Hezrockinroyalty and Miss Idaho will continue to follow similar paths during the next few weeks.

Competing at Globe Derby last night, Hezrockinroyalty and Miss Idaho proved too good for their rivals in the Lord and Ladyship Stakes.

To be given “a light day or two”, the duo will then be primed for the Southern Cross heats according to their respective trainers.

Qualifiers of the state-bred series are scheduled for November 25, with the Finals to be conducted the following week.

The futurity will be the swansong for the season, with Hezrockinroyalty and Miss Idaho to be sent for a spell.

“He has the Southern Cross heats in a fortnight, then hopefully the Final after that,” Hezrockinroyalty’s trainer, Alan Cronin said. “He’s done a terrific job already this season, but I really reckon he’s a three-year-old in waiting to be honest.

“He is a big type of horse, which is maturing into himself and will be better after a good break, which is what he will get after the Southern Cross.”

Leading throughout from barrier three, Hezrockinroyalty scored by a head from Bay Jim Major, which enjoyed the perfect one-one trial.

Star Man was four metres away third after working overtime in the ‘death seat’.

“I was as confident as you can be in a race such as that as I felt he had the barrier advantage over the main two,” Cronin said. “So far, whichever has drawn best between that trifecta seems to have come out on top.”

Rating 1:57.9 over 1800 metres, the son of Rock N Roll Heaven was partnered by Ryan Hryhorec, who trains and drives Miss Idaho.

After trailing the pacemaker, Lil Miss Crocker, Miss Idaho completed a soft two-and-a-half metre win from Tilly Jayne.

Lil Miss Crocker battled on to be nine metres away third.

Boasting four wins and a debut second from five starts, the daughter of Ultimate Machete rated 2:00.5.

“That run will keep her topped up nicely heading into the Southern Cross heats,” Hryhorec said.
