Promising trotter earns interstate trip

PROMISING trotter Kyvalley Judge will be “put to the test” at Club Menangle tomorrow night.

Successful upon debut last January, the four-year-old has registered three wins and a pair of placings from his five subsequent, much to the surprise of Victorian trainer Chris Svanosio.

Those runs, however, earned Kyvalley Judge a shot at the Foundation Final at the world class venue.

“He had a few little niggles which kept him away from racing as a two-year-old, then he just couldn’t put it together as an early three-year-old,” Svanosio explained. “So we put him back out and tried again later in the year.

“He’s a massive big horse, which is growing into himself and coming along quite nicely now…he has surprised us to be honest.”

With Svanosio to take the reins, the son of Tactical Landing will begin from barrier four over a mile.

TAB Fixed Odds have the gelding listed as the $3.70 second elect, with I Am Hellbound heading the market at $1.35 from gate five for astute trainer Scott Hewitt.

“This will be a bit lot harder for my bloke,” Svanosio said. “I haven’t bustled him out of the gate, but he can get out well.

“I Am Hellbound is a lot further along in racing and has been competing against stronger company, so he is clearly the one to beat.”
