Promising type remains unbeaten for new stable

NEXT month’s rich Carousel Series is on promising pacer Cloud Nine’s hit list.

Unbeaten from three starts since joining Jason Grimson’s stable, Cloud Nine will be kept fresh ahead of the opening heats at Club Menangle on September 4.

Grimson revealed his plans for the son of Bettors Delight after his victory at the world class venue last night.

“He’s been a great addition to the team,” Grimson said. “He’s three from three, so you can’t do any better than that!

“I’ve been very impressed with everything he has done, both at the races and on the training track.

“I’m positive he is a horse on the way up and a series like the Carousel is the perfect stepping stone.

“He can’t win again before the series, so I will give him a let-up and go in fresh.”

Driven by Jack Trainor, Cloud Nine led throughout from barrier two to score by a metre-and-a-half from Hes Chiming, with Swaggie Shannon a half-neck away third.

Covering the mile in 1:53, the four-year-old was the opening leg of a training treble for Grimson, who was triumphant with Majestic Cruiser and Rocknroll Angel later on the card.

“I thought Cruiser was close to a good thing as it was a drop in class for him,” Grimson said.

“It was good to have Angel back in the winners’ circle and hopefully she can carry that into a similar race next week.”
