QUALITY youngster Eve Crocker has been granted a winter reprieve thanks to her successful racing return.
First-up from an 11-week break, Eve Crocker was a class above her rivals in the National Trotguide Pace in Penrith.
As such the daughter of Somebeachsomewhere will join prominent horseman Jack Trainor on a Queensland campaign.
Owner Gary Crocker confirmed the news, which will see Eve Crocker contest several features, beginning with Friday night’s Redcliffe Oaks.
Eve Crocker was third in the New South Wales Oaks at Club Menangle on February 25.
“I’ve had the Queensland Winter Carnival mapped out for her for a while,” Crocker said. “She was sent for a good break at the beginning of April with the view of having her ready at this time.
“I couldn’t be happier with her first-up run and she will certainly be fitter for it next time around.
“She’s nominated for Redcliffe at the end of the week, then it’s on to the South East and Queensland Oaks.”
With Trainor in the cart, Eve Crocker was pushed through from the inside of the second row to gain the run of the race behind Top The Ace, which led from the pole.
Angled away from the pegs to be three-wide around the final bend, Eve Crocker sprinted to an eight-metre victory from Clementsorrell
Top The Ace battled on to be a head away third.
Rating 1:59.2 over 2125 metres, the three-year-old took her record to six wins and six placings from 19 starts for earnings of $84,445.
