Quiet Christmas for Group Two winner

A NICE quiet Christmas is in store for promising youngster Kyvalley Hotspur.

Successful in last night’s Tatlow Stake at Tabcorp Park Melton, the trotter will be given a short break before being readied for another feature campaign.

Planning to give Kyvalley Hotspur a couple of weeks off, trainer Brent Lilley will then prime the son of Muscle Hill for the Prince Of Speed series in the New Year.

“What he has shown always suggested he would get better with racing and he has continued to improve as the season has gone along,” Lilley said.

“His last few runs in particular have been good and I was pretty confident with him ahead of last night.

“That will see him out for the season and he’ll have a short break before I get him going for the Need For Speed Prince series.

“He’ll most likely have another break after that before we look at the main races towards the end of the year.”

With Chris Alford in the cart, Kyvalley Hotspur worked to the lead from barrier three as Bullion Harry was eased to take a trail.

Proving too slick along the home straight, the colt dashed to a seven-metre win from Bullion Harry, with Senitas Strength a metre-and-a-half away third.

“After he got to the front I didn’t think anything would run him down,” Lilley said. “But you never know with two-year-old trotters so he still had to get the job done.”

Rating 1:59.9 over 2240 metres, Kyvalley Hotspur extended his record to two wins and two thirds from seven starts.
