Recent acquisition a terrific purchase

RECENT stable acquisition Megiddo is proving to be a terrific purchase.

Bought to aid Adrian Pace gain his driver’s licence, Megiddo has also assisted Joe Pace in being the world’s best Dad!

Having his fifth start for Adrian as an owner when making an appearance at Tabcorp Park Melton yesterday, Megiddo registered his second win under Joe’s care.

The son of Sportswriter was also runner-up upon debut for the father and son combination.

“Adrian bought him to have a horse of his own to work and drive at the trials,” Joe said. “He’s still got to have a few more trial drives before he gets his licence, but he’s working on it.

“Adrian’s been happy enough with my efforts…when I get off the track he says ‘well done old man’.

“He seems to forget this old man still out works him around the stables.”

Beginning quickly to lead from barrier two, Megiddo then gained the run of the race as Rose Cooper was surged forward to find the front from gate five.

Finishing strongly along the sprint lane, Megiddo completed a metre win from the pacemaker.

Paddington Central was five metres away third in 1:59.9 over 2240 metres.

“He’s perfect to drive,” Joe said. “He gets out there and gets on with the job, no fuss.

“He knows what he’s doing and all you have to do is go along for the ride.

“He’ll go back to a trial now to give Adrian a drive, then we’ll find another suitable race for him.”
